Then and Now

The Inside Scoop on the Museum and Town's History
Picture
A weekly update on the ins and outs of the museum. We showcase the "Artifact(s) of the Month" every 1st Wednesday. We highlight the "This Month in History..." every 2nd Wednesday. We see the sights of "Then and Now" in Sapulpa every 3rd Wednesday. And we share our moments in the museum world every 4th Wednesday. This is with our collaboration with the Sapulpa Herald for their Wednesday newspaper under the segment called "Museum Musings."

Then and Now Images of Sapulpa:

The image of Wells-Sapulpa Packing Co was located on a lot of nearly 80 acres. The location was just east of the Sapulpa Oil Refinery just north of town along Route 66.
  • (Then) between 1910 and 1912, Wells-Sapulpa Packing Co
  • (Now) this would become N Division St to N Brown St and from E Hill Ave and E 101st St.
*Bonus* newspaper article describes how Sapulpa was chosen for the location for such a large factory (Oklahoma Farmer and Laborer, January 5, 1912)

I have an antique photo of an oil refinery fire taken by "Moulder-McCann" studio whom I believe was located in Sapulpa, OK. Would you like a scanned copy of the photo? Perhaps you can help me understand the history of the event.
