Then and Now Images of Sapulpa:
From at least 1914 to 1922, a structure stood in the Westport Addition and was once a school. It was a teacher college and a training school for African-American women and girls. The structure no longer exists because the school was moved to Muskogee; it is unknown when the building was torn down, officially, but the move took place in 1922. It had a couple of names listed as the organization: Oklahoma Training School, Oklahoma Baptist College [for women and girls]. It was believed to be located at 100 or 120 Wallace.

Before the doors even opened, nearly 800 students were enrolled for the Oklahoma Baptist College. The program began with two educators and activists from Oklahoma City: Maude J. Brockway and Drusilla Dunjee Houston. It offered two-year teaching degrees above a high school education, as well as, domestic science in sewing, cooking, laundering, housekeeping, and sanitation.
