Sapulpa Showcase (October 2019)

Artifact(s) of the Month:

Two engraved stones found in/near Sapulpa with famous outlaws of the Wild Wild West:
  • "Jesse James 1881" (it appears to may have been marked or vandalized or a natural indention over the second 1, making the 1881 appear to say 1889) engraved stone found in Moccasin Track Bluff in 1942. Donated to the Sapulpa Historical Museum in 1994.
  • "Bob Dalton" (of the Dalton Gang) engraved stone found in "cave", north of Tibbens Road, in 1930s. Donated to the Sapulpa Historical Museum in 1999.

These 'outlaw's did not necessarily live (or rob) in Sapulpa - but Sapulpa was not a designated township, neither. However, it is possible they did stay or hide away in the area.
