Then and Now

The Inside Scoop on the Museum and Town's History
Picture
A weekly update on the ins and outs of the museum. We showcase the "Artifact(s) of the Month" every 1st Wednesday. We highlight the "This Month in History..." every 2nd Wednesday. We see the sights of "Then and Now" in Sapulpa every 3rd Wednesday. And we share our moments in the museum world every 4th Wednesday. This is with our collaboration with the Sapulpa Herald for their Wednesday newspaper under the segment called "Museum Musings."

The Artifact of the Month: “Popular Science” magazine from January 1947. On the cover are two fire trucks. These fire trucks featured are almost identical to the two historic fire trucks housed in our museum. The Sapulpa Fire Museum has a 1939 Ford fire truck and a circa 1950s La-France ladder fire engine. “Faster, huskier, and better-designed, they will help curb rising losses-and steal the smoke eaters’ show” welcome the new fire engines.

If you wish to see these fire trucks up close, be sure to stop in the Sapulpa Fire Museum.

Was surprised and glad to see you used my father (Lemuel Rhodes) old magazine.

My two-year-old son loves firetrucks. He's so much fun to be around, and he would absolutely love a firetruck-themed room. I'm currently in the process of redecorating his room, and I'm planning to replace the wood floors with carpet. This is partly because I think it will be more comfortable for him to play on, but it's also so that I can call my favorite carpet cleaners in Sapulpa
more often. With a toddler, I know I'll be needing more carpet cleaning services than ever before!

I'm really excited about the new firetruck-themed room. I've already found some great wall decals and posters, and I'm planning to get him a big, soft firetruck bed. I think he's going to love it!

In the meantime, I'm keeping him entertained with his favorite firetruck toys. He has a small plastic firetruck that he loves to push around, and he also has a set of fireman action figures. He loves to pretend to be a fireman and save the day!

I can't wait to see his face when he sees his new firetruck-themed room. I know he's going to love it!
