What happened this month at the museum...

Tourism: The furthest visitor outside of Sapulpa (for this month):
  • In Oklahoma:  Fairview (approx. 157 miles away),
  • In U.S.: Sequim, Washington (approx. 1,032 miles away),
  • In the World: London, UK (approx. 4,554 miles away).

Announcements:
  • Our volunteers and one staff member have been to two conferences this month. The only staff member has another conference this week.
  • We loaned a small exhibit to the Bristow Middle School, 7th grade, English class, during their Holocaust & World War II lessons (preparing for "The Diary of Anne Frank" play).
  • We are preparing for a few events happening soon:
    • A new mural on our west wall - Coming Soon
    • Vintage (Garage) Museum Sale* - May 3-4 (See Information Below)
    • Class of 1969, 50-Year Reunion - May 24-25
    • Route 66 Blow Out's 30th Year! - June 1 (See Link Below)

*This sale has been approved by the Board Members of The Sapulpa Historical Museum.  Objects sold through Vintage (Garage) Museum Sale are duplicate materials that have never been part of the Museum's collection or deaccessioned material that has been removed from the collection in accordance with the Museum’s Collections Management Policy.  All funds generated through Vintage (Garage) Museum Sale will be used for the acquisition of objects for the permanent collections or for the conservation of items currently owned by the Museum by external conservators.

    Sapulpa Historical Society has new blog series to be posted every Friday.

    The new blog series, "Then and Now,"  has 4 segments to teach Creek County history.

    First Friday's segment: 'Sapulpa Showcase' shares an artifact-of-the-month in the museum.

    Second Friday's segment: 'Historical Highlight' tells a little tidbit about the town's history.

    Third Friday's segment: 'Society Sights' shows a then-and-now image of a local business.

    Fourth Friday's segment: 'Museum Moments' features life in the museum world.
